Operates: The San Francisco Zoo is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily, 365 days a year, including Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. The six-acre Children's Zoo is open from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily. Extended weekend and special summer (Memorial Day through Labor Day) hours are 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

You pay when you get to San Francisco Zoo
Special daily public displays:
Big Cat Feeding — see the lions and tigers devour their afternoon meal in the Lion House. 2 p.m. daily (except Mondays).
Penguin Feeding - Magellanic penguins are hand-fed at 2:30 p.m. daily by animal staff on Penguin Island.
Incredible Insects in Action (daily at 2:30 p.m during Summer) — See giant walkingsticks and tarantulas up close during this fascinating demonstration in the Insect Zoo, located within the Children's Zoo
